Others had less than great parents who didn't train them well, and without those skills, they were powerless to pull life together. Regardless, all of us have our own weaknesses. In the times we encounter others who need help, whom do we choose to please-- Ourselves or those in their weakness? Sometimes it can be a hard choice.
